Charter
The foundation members of the AELERT network established a Charter. It commits members to cooperate with and support each other as far as they reasonably can, but is not legally binding.
The Charter sets out objectives which include:
- To create gateways for liaison and cooperation between agencies.
- To assist agencies to formalise bi-lateral and multi-lateral relationships through memoranda/letters of
understanding and procedural guidelines. - To establish standards of information sharing and exchange.
- To establish competency and training standards and promote professional development for staff.
- To facilitate the development and provision of nationally accredited and internationally regarded
training. - To establish best practice standards on the use of investigation methods, intelligence, science,
technology and expert evidence. - To establish mechanisms for sharing statistical information, including information related to prosecutions.
- To help Member Agencies to deliver on their legislative objectives.
- To form beneficial associations with other organisations that may assist in advancing these objectives.
To become a member of AELERT:
1) Contact and discuss membership with your relevant Jurisdictional Representative or the AELERT Secretariat.
2) Download and complete the Charter for the Australasian Environmental Law Enforcement & Regulators neTwork;
3) Scan the original and send via email to the Secretariat Project Officer; and
4) Send the original to:
